Rural youth is the future, especially in Uganda where 50% of the country’s 41 million people are below the age of 15 and 84% live in remote rural communities.
SmartMoney is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Feed the Future Uganda Youth Leadership for Agriculture Activity and MercyCorps Uganda’s Agri-Fin Mobile Program to enhance economic opportunity for Uganda’s rural youth. The partnership will foster rural savings culture to drive uptake of SmartMoney’s pioneering mobile-based rural savings and payment service among young rural individuals and business owners.
The Feed the Future Uganda Youth Leadership in Agriculture Activity is a five-year initiative made possible by the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of Feed the Future, the U.S. Government’s global hunger and food security initiative.
MercyCorps Uganda’s Agri-Fin Mobile Program is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
With strong support from USAID and MercyCorps Uganda / SDC, SmartMoney is enhancing their platform with new service features and introducing new sales and training programs specifically targeting Uganda’s rural youth.
